Small Business Install: Offices & Co-Working Space
What the Client Needed
Our client, a small business with 30 employees, was relocating to a new place and wanted to boost their network. Their new office had some tricky stuff to deal with:
- During the renovation, the contractors took out all the old network stuff and cut the wires, so we had to start from scratch.
- The client rented out a part of their office to a smaller company and some freelancers, so we needed to set up separate networks to keep everyone’s data safe and isolated.
- We moved two video conference TVs, with cameras and microphones, that we previously set up from their old place to the new one.
The Work We Performed
Ahead of the company's move-in date, we installed new racking and the latest type of network cabling to restore the infrastructure that the contractors accidentally removed, ensuring the building had what it needed to support our client's needs. This included the install and mounting of hardwire connection points for both the equipment we were installing as well as additional points for employees who prefer hardline connections or future expansion.
On move-in day, we set up all of the client's technology. We moved their old equipment to the new network, which saved them some money. We also set up separate Wi-Fi networks for employees, guests, and the sublet companies. We used Virtual Networks (VLANs) to group devices without the company needing to purchase extra equipment to support separate organizations.
We also helped them get their internet connection from their ISP to the new building. But guess what? The ISP canceled the service on the morning of the move. So, we had to find a temporary solution and got another ISP to set up internet for them. The original provider was able to move the service a few weeks later.
We also made sure that all the TVs and video conferencing equipment was mounted, connected, and tested. That way, the team could start their business the next day with all the equipment they needed for their scheduled meetings.
Results
Over the weekend, our client’s new office was all set, and employees were able to jump right into work. Just like with all our installations, we kept a close eye on the health of their network connections and internet speed to make sure everyone was happy with the service.
